I am speechless and floored by this book. It almost feels like an honor to read this, to have access to such deeply personal storytelling, to read history as a poem, as a reflection of somebody else’s witnessing. This book bleeds resilience.
Pico's work is unlike anything else. It is vibrant, fresh, honest, and necessary for you to read. He is an important voice in contemporary lit today.

Rebecca Solnit does such an excellent job expressing the progression of violence against women. it always starts with microaggressions, it always begins with something as simple as mansplaining, and yet it always leads to the ways in which all women are faced with perpetual violence rooted in toxic masculinity & the patriarchy. Solnit's prose / journalism is extremely accessible and easy to understand, yet it is intentional. a must-read for anyone interested in understanding the greater scale of violence against women.
Sharp prose, obscure, and lingering. Boyer is fresh and inviting yet simultaneously intimidating, writing about existential truth, questioning love, interpretation, meaning.
Valeria Luiselli confronts trauma through the lens of truth, highlighting the experience of undocumented children and what it means to take on a life that they did not choose. The questions that she asks are honest, intentional, and complex. A necessary read, especially in the age of ICE and the mistreatment they enact on undocumented people.
