As the brainchild of two longtime educators, Volumes Bookcafe is dedicated to fostering a love of reading in kids of all ages. We feature heavily curated Children's, Middle Grade and Young Adult sections, and offer a number of kid-oriented events.
Summer Youth Workshops
This summer, Volumes Bookcafe will be offering free 2-hour classes for children and teens aged 8-18 (see course descriptions for details). All classes will take place from 10am to 12pm. Call us or email Jessey at firstname.lastname@example.org in order to reserve a space; there are 10 spots available in each class.
Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10 AM, Kimberly, Volumes co-owner and former pre-K teacher, hosts story time in our Kids Corner, located in the back of our store. Kimberly pulls from her extensive experience to pick books best suited to each week's audience - all ages welcome!
Junior Lit Critics Club
Nominate students for our Junior Lit Critics Club! Once a month, students will come together to discuss Advance Reader's Copies (ARCs) of upcoming books. Their reviews will be featured in our store and on our website, and, perhaps the best part, they'll receive free copies of books that aren't even on shelves yet!
If you know a budding literary critic, have them email jessey [at] volumesbooks.com with "Junior Lit Critics Club Application" in the subject line, and provide us with the following information in the body of the email:
- First name
- Book Title and Publication Date
- 3-5 sentences/100 words or less review of a book you've loved and read in the past year
Blind Date With a Book
For a $3 cash donation, you can take home your very own mystery book! Browse our selection of wrapped and staff-decorated Advanced Reader Copies (ARCs) of newly released books. Proceeds will go to funding library and classroom book contributions, and author events in local schools.
